CHAUPAI SAHIB PDF

This Bani is one of the five Banis recited by the initiated Sikh every morning. It is also a part of evening prayer of the Sikhs called Rehras sahib. The Benti Chaupee can be read at any time during the day to provide protection, positive focus and energy. It is short composition which usually takes less than about 5 minutes to recite at a slow pace; it is written in simple Punjabi language and can be easily understood by most speakers of this language.

Chaupai is the th Charitar of the Charitropakhyan of the Dasam Granth. Chaupai Sahib begins after the Chittar where two massive battles, including the later between Maha Kal and the devils, is narrated and the struggle of a goddess that was born as a result of the first battle and her quest for the acceptance of the Supreme Being, by her abandoning all other worldly desires, is illustrated. This hymn offers one protection and security and many Sikhs recite this Bani to gain spiritual safety and defense from external and internal enemies, worries and afflictions.

The Gurmukhi gives one self-confidence and an upbeat feeling. This Bani gives one the feeling of reliability and dependability on the Lord. Kabiyo Bach Benti Chaupai is normally referred to as Chaupai in short. Thus make my house-hold [mind], servants and followers [intellect and varied other organs]] rest in peace. Whatever boons I seek I should obtain from You.

Liberate all my servants and followers [way of thinking], pick each and every one and destroy them, who are obstacles in my well being. You are the Savior of the weak and Destroyer of tyrants. O the Lord of fourteen worlds according to Puranic conception. It is all the Play of the Temporal Lord. He alone was in the beginningand will also be at the end of the Time. He alone is my Guru. He has blessed His devotees with all merits and happiness and destroys enemies [inner dis-hormony] instantaneously.

He casts His Graceful Glance on all from the meek ant to huge elephant and feel pleased. He understands what pains each of the hearts of the creatures and their innermost workings. When He dissolves the creation, all the physical forms are merged back in Him. They utter Him as they can think, what He is. He, however, lives Detached from all. This distinction the wise ones and the religious books know. He is the Primal Power, Blemishless, Beginningless and does not take birth.

The fools claim boastfully about the knowledge of His secrets, which even Vedas do not know. The limits of Your creation cannot be known, nor how in the beginning You wrought the Universes. You create the egg born, the sweat born, the earth born and the foetus born.

He shows His miraculous deeds to all His creation of the Universe. He, the Primal Power, born of Himself is since the beginning of beginning. All the evil doers who arise in my mind , fight with them and destroy them there and then.

The persons, who fall on Your Feet, You remove all their afflictions and maladies. They remain protected at all times. All their enemies and sorrows are removed instantaneously. They are blessed with all the earthly and spiritual treasures, and no evil doer [deadly passions and sickly instinctual drives] can even touch their shadows. Whosoever meditates on Your Name, he overcomes his poverty, suffering and adversity.

Protect me with Your Own Hands. Extend Your support to me wherever I be, and save me from the evil doers [evil thoughts and sins].
